The essential summer accessory are the sunglasses, and for good reason. Sunglasses offer both style and utility during the summer months and add personality to your outfit. However, it is important to choose the correct sunglasses style in order to complement your facial features.

The first step to choose the right pair of sunglasses is to measure your face. Grab a notebook, stand in front of a mirror or your phone’s selfie camera and start measuring. You can use your hand to measure an approximate size. Make sure that you measure these parts of the face in detail: forehead, cheekbones, jawline, the length and width of your face. Note the approximate measurements and find out the kind of characteristics that each face shape has to know your face type.

FIND YOUR FACE SHAPE

  • Round face:

The length and width of your face are similar and do not have marked features. Your cheekbones are larger than your forehead and jaw, which are also of a similar size. The angle of the jaw is soft and much less defined. The most important feature of this face shape is that the contours are very soft and the chin area is rounded. So, the face (top to bottom) and cheekbones are the same length and the forehead and jaw have the same measurements. Moreover, the forehead and jawline are smaller than the length of the face and cheekbones.

  • Square face:

All measurements are quite similar. The angle of the jaw is sharp rather than rounded. The chin area is only slightly sloped and has a minimal curve. All in all, a square face shape has similar measures and an acute jaw. It is an angular face.

  • Oval face:

The length of your face is longer than the width of your cheekbones. Your forehead is wider than your jawline. The angle of the jaw is rounded. The lower half of the face is slightly longer than the upper half. This face shape is comparable to the square shape, but the edges are much smoother. The contour looks very harmonious and it has balanced proportions.

  • Diamond-shaped face:

Women and men with this shape have a pointed chin and the cheekbones are the widest and most prominent part of the face, wider than the forehead and jaw. Therefore, the thinnest part of the face is the jaw.

  • Heart-shaped face:

    Heart Face Shape

Also called an inverted triangle, it is characterized by having a wide upper part (forehead, wide cheekbones) and a narrow jaw. Sometimes, people with this face shape also have a widow’s tip, which is a spiky hairline. The cheekbones are higher compared to the oval face. This outline is sometimes described as triangular.

  • Triangular face:

Your jawline is larger than your cheekbones, which are longer than his forehead. So, people with a triangular face have an arrow forehead and wider jawline.

  • Long face:

    Long Face shape

Long faces are characterized by elongated features. The long face is the same as the square in terms of proportions, since the measurements to be compared (width of the forehead, width of the face and length) are the same. The difference is that the forehead and chin are not so angular, but are rounded and not so sharp.

Some people have a combination of these face types, such as a long square or rounded heart. Choose the one that is closer to yours and find out which sunglasses suit you best.

SELECT THE SUNGLASSES THAT SUIT YOUR FACE TYPE

  • Round face:

    Geometric Shape Sunglasses

For round faces, we recommend lenses that are proportionate in terms of width and length. You can use large, rectangular and geometrically shaped lenses. You have to avoid round glasses so they do not make a more circular shape. Short frames or small lenses are also not recommended.

  • Square face:

In this case, you should wear glasses with an oval or round shape to make your facial lines look softer. If this is your face shape, you should try to avoid square, geometric shapes and colors that emphasize the chin.

  • Oval face:

    Square Shape Sunglasses

People with this face shape are lucky because all types of sunglasses look good on them since the proportions of their faces are already balanced. However, it is better to use bigger sunglasses for faces larger than the average size, as well as using square, geometric and rectangular shapes.

  • Diamond-shaped face:

For this type of face, it is advisable to emphasize the eyes and cheekbones. We recommend you to avoid wearing narrow sunglasses.

  • Heart-shaped face:

    Aviator Sunglasses

For heart-shaped faces, it is better to use medium-sized glasses. The frame should not reach the cheeks. This way, the facial features are more balanced. Soft colors and rounded shapes are also recommended, while it is preferable to avoid decorative elements.

  • Triangular face:

    Rayban Shape Sunglasses

The frame should be oval in order to highlight the cheekbones with shapes that open towards the cheeks and accentuate the upper part of the face. Vivid and bright colors are suitable. Aviator-style glasses are ideal for this type of face.

  • Long face:

    Rectangular Shape Sunglasses

For elongated faces, it is best to use wider sunglasses in order to create an opposite effect on the face. One option is to use large, narrow-rimmed lenses. Avoid small glasses.
